The conference is organized by the HEIP-LINK Project Consortium, coordinated by the University of Alicante (Spain) in partnership of 11 Higher Education Institutions from 11 different countries and 4 continents.

The goal of the HEIP-LINK partnership is to facilitate international R&D cooperation through exploring and sharing information and good practice on strategic aspects of cross-boarder cooperation; such as intellectual property rights and technology transfer issues.

THE CONFERENCE WILL INVOLVE EXPERTS FROM 4 DIFFERENT CONTINENTS TO DISCUSS WITH THE PARTICIPANTS THE FOLLOWING ISSUES

  • What are the trends and where to find funding for international research cooperation?
  • What do we ultimately want to create from our university’s assets? How can collaboration contribute to building university assets, while contributing to sustainable development?
  • How to best manage Intellectual Property Rights issues to guarantee that research results are exploited in the best possible manner to achieve social economic development?
  • What are the implications for the use and exploitation of research results, when research is partially funded by government grants, or EU grants? And when partners from different countries participate in projects?
  • Which are the particularities of the partner countries’ legislation that EU HEIs and other organisations must be aware of when cooperation takes place in these countries?
  • Are Universities prepared to manage IPR in a proper way? Are students prepared to use the IPR system to generate innovation and development?
